Description
My aim with this creation was to combine traditional millinery techniques and materials with cutting edge computer aided design and 3D printing,
The accesibility of 3D printing and current computer graphics software to artists enables the production of complex, visually rich forms without sacrifying the organic spontaneity of the traditional design process.
To create the “opulance” fascinator I have fused plastic 3D flowers designed by a visual artist Parm Rai with natural materials like sinamay ,parasisal or feathers.
Materials
- parasisal
- sinamay
- Dior net
- goose feathers
- coq feathers
- millinery wire
- 3D printed flowers
- petersham ribbon
Techniques
- stiffening and blocking sinamay using a wooden block
- blocking a Dior net
- hand paint parasisal
- parasisal using a buckram block
- finishing the edges
- arranging feathers
- arranging flowers
- hand sewing
