Kabuki

Category: Traditional

Description

The Kabuki headpiece is made fully by hand using traditional methods. I have ‘fused’ together a traditional millinery material, parasisal with a non traditional, copper. Each ‘flower’ is formed by hand and stitched together and secured to the parasisal base. Fusion to me means combining materials which you would not normally see together and making them into something beautiful, striking and wearable.

Materials

  • Parasisal
  • Copper sheet

Techniques

  • Hand Blocking
  • Hand Dying
  • Hand forming copper ‘flowers’
