Togetherness

Description

In view of the theme, I just had to make a hat for a bride. The marriage is a kind of merging when two become one. Wanted to make a hat for a winter wedding and picked a beautiful off-white melusine. I have chosen to compete with a traditionally made hat, where the technique is also based on the fusion theme. The leaves is attached in an intarsia kind of manner, I do not know the English name for it, but it is based on sewing two pieces of felt together and trying to make the joints as invisible as possible. Have also made a cut in the leaves where I sew freshwater pearls in, with invisible stitches, so that the beads appear to be just laying in the grooves. The lining is in blue silk, it is said that a bride should wear something blue on the big day so it felt like a natural choice.
