Beau
Category: Traditional
Description
On a number of levels my Beau hat exemplifies the theme of “fusion”; I laminate beech veneer with metallic card to achieve a finish which accentuates the form of the sculptural trim; the sinamay base is hand blocked and hand finished in the traditional way. I use a sinamay band to attach the wood trim to the base. This culminates in a perch hat created through a fusion of materials and processes that enhances the wearer and demands attention. I would describe this hat as being made with traditional processes and finished with a contemporary twist.
