Arc

Description

My work exemplifies the theme of Fusion in a number of ways. I have worked in wood veneer since my craft studies in Three Dimensional Design where I made prototype models in veneer after specialising in headwear. I use lamination which is a way of fusing layers together to give strength or alter the finish. Arc is made from a laminated head band formed from 2 ply veneer with a laminated trim in veneer and card; the metallic finish enhances the curved loops. I hand make tube rivets from aluminium to attach the loops to the band. My methods for making Arc are neither traditional millinery techniques nor high tech processes however using high craft skills I have achieved a stand out headpiece that enhances the wearer and demands attention.
