Eden Day

Category: Traditional

Description

The traditional florentine braided straw, a very useful material in millinery, have been merged with an every day, common item, as napkin. The straw and the paper are together in a single headpiece, and even a simple element like paper that is not used in millinery, instead can become the protagonist of the hat. There is a perfect fusion of two natural materials that create a unique harmony that I called “Eden Day”. Thank you.

Materials

  • FLORENTINE BRAIDED STRAW for the base.
  • BRASS WIRE to join the braided straw.
  • NAPKINS for flowers petals and stamens.

Techniques

  • The straw base and the paper flowers are totally handmade; no special techniques and tools have been used, my hands only.
  • I worked the braided straw following a pattern developed by me and I joined it in some points using the brass wire.
  • I made stamens and each petal with napkins; then I assembled each flower using an hot glue gun.
