Description

Optical illusions & math in nature.

Math is everywhere in the Universe but we seldom note it. Symmetry, shapes, lines, Fibonacci spirals …

We enjoy nature and rarely interested in going deep about math ideas presented there.

Materials

• Inside the optical part of the hat is sewing plastic & underlining.
• Its covered with velvet (wrong side) & silk (right side).
• Special print with optical illusion was made on the silk.
• Also silk flowers with glass beads was made & Sinamay attachment
• Comb and headband.
• Other materials:
• cotton wool,
• PVA,
• wire.

Techniques

• Hat was made like sandwich: first – optical part, then – silk flowers, the last part – Sinamay with comb and 2 attachments for the headband.
• Inside the optical part of the hat is sewing plastic & underlining. Its covered with velvet (wrong side) & silk (right side). Special print with optical illusion was made on the silk.
• Also silk flowers with glass beads was made & Sinamay attachment.

• flower iron with round tips
• Scissors or wire cutters
• Semi-soft rubber pad for flower pressing
• Moistened cloth
• Pen
• Needle and thread
• Heatproof mat/stand for flower iron.
