High Wire
Category: Traditional
Description
Wirework has been around in millinery for many years and is not a new concept. But as part of the Fusion theme, I sought to take a traditional technique, morph it into something a little more modern and make it into something truly unique.
The halo-shaped headpiece is still very on trend in our part of the world, so chose that as my shape.
Materials
- Wire
- beads
- feathers & thread
- Attachment: Comb and elastic
Techniques
- This headpiece is almost entirely made out of wire.
- I knitted the wire mesh with a pair of knitting needles to create a great bit of texture and then wired it onto a wire frame.
- The flowers are made of wire that has been hand shaped with beaded centres.
- The feathers have been hand cut and wired into shape.
