Description

my headpiece is made using materials traditionally used in the summer and winter season i wanted to make something using materials from all seasons as i think you can make great use of materials all year round also by using my headpiece decoration as something that i had blocked i am joining different blocked materials together

Materials

• sinamay
• felt
• metalic leather
• petersham ribbon
• lining
• thread

Techniques

• i used a button shape wooden hat block and blocked a felt base to make a strong structure for the leather.
• i then wired the edges.
• i then used the same block and blocked a leather base.
• i covered the felt with the leather and hand stitched a petersham ribbon in.
• after these steps i blocked 3 identical sinamay shapes for the decoration of the headpiece
• i hand stitched these in place.
• to finish i added a lining to cover any stitching that would be seen.
