CREATURE No. 3
Category: Modern
Description
The CREATURE No. 3 is one of the most fragile and difficult hats I have ever made. My inspiration for this hat came from “Three studies for figures at the base of a crucifixion“ by the British painter Francis Bacon. The figures depicted by Bacon seem overwhelming and battlesome at first glance. Yet a closer look exposes their vulnerability and fragility to me. That is the reason I chose porcelain as the material to mirror this diremption. The CREATURE No.3 combines the high-tech methods of CAD construction and CNC milling with the ancient technique of burning porcelain. The combination of the methods made it possible to me to bring out the attributes of Bacons figures. A poetical hat sculpture as a fusion of art and high fashion.
