Description

For this hat I used a mixture of traditional techniques and materials with new things that are not used normally in hats creation as the plastic.

The FUSION of these materials made this hat on the theme of the competition.

Materials

• Wood felt
• Special Polystyrene block
• Grey velvet
• plastic deformed
• Coloured veil
• Wire
• Alice band
• comb
• ribbon

Techniques

• Felt blocked on a polystyrene block, with the traditional technique (stiffener, steam, iron, and pins).
• The Shape is been wired all around to maintain the design.
• This form has been covered with grey velvet.
• I have worked the detail of plastic with a hot iron to give this aspect of wrinkles, in one side of the shape. Some veil in half of the hat, gives the last touch to this piece.
• For the attachment system I used wire going from the shape to the Alice band, and ribbon to cover the entire band.
• A central comb finishes and secures the hat maintaining.
