Dandelion dream

Category: Modern

Description

Blowing the seeds of a dandelion is entertaining, (send them into the air like tiny helicopters) and may be also magical, romantic, opening our dreams to new possibilities.

I opened my mind into new possibilities by creating an original and modern Dandelion headpiece with the fusion and combination of some classic millinery materials and techniques, used in a different way to come into an unusual design hat.

This is my contribution to the competition theme.

I hope you like it as I enjoyed making it!

Materials

  • White goose biot feathers
  • wire
  • polystyrene ball
  • crochet material
  • sinamay
  • alice band
  • comb
  • ribbon

Techniques

  • For this particular piece I used the technique of rolling the feather around each piece of wire to make the dandelion seeds. Having worked on some a few, and I joined them all together on the polystyrene ball to finish the half dandelion…open by the wind.
  • The stem of the flower is made on sinamay with the technique of roll of the edges.
  • The attachment of the flower on the alice band is made by several wires.
