Description

An object is in equilibrium when the sum of all the forces act upon it.

Enea is a solid material, which when wet can be easily managed by hand.

Enea caught my attention when I designed this hat with its transparency and shadows that it exerted on the support on which I worked. I was therefore able to envisage the face with the shadows that the fabric provided and this fascinated me.

I am inspired by traditional hats but enjoy breaking the mold with rigid fabrics like enea, by taking advantage of their transparencies to create balance in the form.

Materials

• Enea, which is a herbaceous plant with tall, cylindrical stems, long, narrow leaves, arranged in two rows along the stem, flowers grouped in dense cylindrical spikes and dark brown fruit.

Techniques

• Textile weaving interwoven by hand.
