Fire and Ice
Description
Fire and ice, where these two opposing forces find the equilibrium in the fluidity of water.
Water has three states solid, liquid and gas.
Solid = ice, shown as Icicles, (polythene wrapped and bound)
liquid = water, as water droplets (represented with beads)
gaseous = steam, bubbling boiling water and steam (portrayed as marino wool and glass blown bubbles)
Fire symbolised with merino wool and organza.
Under the influence of fire, ice melts, the equilibrium found at the melting point when both forces are vulnerable to each others destructive effect.
The dance between these two elements and the interplay of this dynamic looming threat, is illustrated and suspended in the design of my hat.
