ORIGAMI
Description
This hat is my vision of equilibrium for different reasons:
- the strong contrast of material colors creates an equilibrium between the matte fluorescent yellow and the shinny silver crin.
- the work I had to realize in the composition between full and empty spaces.
- the contrast of the thin design of the wire and the roudness of folded flowers.
- the way this shape can be put on a head. The flowers seems to be lands on the wire and the hat put on the head by a sort of magic.
Each element is fixed on the other and everything forms a delicate but strong whole, creating a equilibrium between all this contrast.
Materials
- millinery wire
- fluo ribbon
- fabric silver crin folded in origami flowers
Techniques
- I work exclusively on my millinery head to realize this hat.
- I first made a sort of cage in millinery wire. This technique is inspired by a very ancient catalogues of hats bases from 1904 I founded in a flea market.
- Then I covered the base with a fluo ribbon sewing by hand.
- I made different size of origami flowers in a very rigid silver crin, and I worked on the equilibrium of the composition.
