Driving Miss Daisy

Description

“Driving Miss Daisy” is an exploration of two of the four types of equilibrium or balance in Art and Design. The piece examines the effect of radial equilibrium and asymmetrical equilibrium in juxtaposition.

Materials

  • Sinamay
  • Polyester jersey
  • Matching threads
  • Brim reed
  • Petersham ribbon
  • Lamb nappa leather
  • Plastic headband

Techniques

  • Hand blocked sinamay button
  • Hand stitched Petersham ribbon
  • Machine stitched polyester jersey tubes, stretched over bent brim reed for petals
  • Hand press moulded leather flowers (my own technique)
  • Matching jersey covered headband, machine stitched and embellished with leather daisy.
