Emergence
Description
My thoughts on the subject of “Equilibrium” led me to consider the world in which we live and how it exists in constant motion yet remains balanced. A vision of barren ground represented by the expanded webbing in the base metal colours of Bronze & Silver counterpoised by the eternal struggle for life. As the first flush of re-growth emerges from within.

Techniques
- Manipulated one-inch metal bronze & silver woven webbing on hat block and expanded the outer edge then drawing the inner circle into a two-inch sizing hole this formed 3 barren ground and constant motion designs
- Mitred all corresponding weaves to safely lock in the pattern & stiffened
- Also blocked and formed a round cup in the webbing shown on back
- Wired and hand sewed all edges for support
- Hand stitched the inner circle to hold in place
- This design was constantly evolving with each step that was designed
- My eternal struggle for life was created in the strive for wild lilies aimlessly trying to emerge from the barren ground in the centre also sprigging out of the side and back
- Cut petal patterns in foil and added seed beads with hand made clay stamens painted to contrast
- Hand wired and designed headband in webbing added hat elastic
- Twists and turns in webbing balance the total design on the RHS
