Description

Fascinated by the concept of “Balance” portrayed in the pieces of the famous Dutch artist Piet Mondrain, I undertook the challenge.

His abstract style, seemingly ordinary, is made up of vertical and horizontal lines that intersect, forming rhythmic spaces that enclose an equilibrium between shape and color, giving value to the essence and not the appearance.

Inspired by the perfect craftsmanship that Mondrain represented on canvas, I created a mosaic on felt, harmonizing straight lines and curves, personalizing it with the color trends of 2019 fashion.

Materials

• 4 hat body cones in cony felt (1 red, 1 yellow, 1 white, 1 torquoise)
• Trimming (soutache)
• Petersham ribbon (Gros grain)
• Harmonic steel
• Thread
• Glue drops
• Stiffener
• Inner lining

Techniques

• Paper sketch (Pencil and ruler)
• Hat block
• Felt molding (4 little hats same hat block)
• Cutting of pieces for mosaic (Ruler, Stanley knife)
• Sewn entirely by hand
