GREEN HARMONY

Description

This hat is a mixture of 3 different green shadows: the green velvet, the green crinoline and the green feathers in a perfect balance… that gives the equilibrium to this percher.

The 3 feathers are also worked to give the impression of being in the air… attached magically to the hat that looks in equilibrium on the head.

Materials

  • buckram
  • velvet
  • pleated crinoline
  • feathers
  • veil
  • wire
  • Alice band
  • comb
  • ribbon

Techniques

  • Buckram blocked on a wood block, with the traditional technique (stiffener, steam, iron, and pins).
  • The Shape has been wired all around to maintain the design. Another piece is being blocked in the opposite way to close the shape (both sides).
  • Recto side – This form has been covered with green velvet. 3 nice green cut feathers wired and attached to the main shape to give the impression of floating
  • Verso side – also buckram covered with the same green velvet and veil to give another touch.
  • For the attachment system I used wire going from the shape to the Alice band, and ribbon to cover the entire band. A central comb finishes and secures the hat maintaining.
