Mayfair

Description

The Mayfair is a modern adaption on the shape that is traditionally known as the Dior Brim. The ellipse shape is offset on the head and crisp lines are clean and striking. Using layers of tulle the graduated edges provide a floating and delicate edge.

Materials

• 16 Gauge Cotton covered wire
• Fuse wire
• Florist Tape
• Wire joiners
• Hat Elastic
• Velvet Ribbon
• Tulle

Techniques

• Creation of wire shapes using a variety of techniques including continuous circles, wire crosses and U shaped wire brackets
• Colour changing of wire on base on hat and transition to hair colour
• Covering wire of headband using velvet ribbon
• Fabric manipulation to create shaped tulle layers
• Invisible stitching to attach layers of tulle
