Description

The word timeless immediately evokes polka dots in my mind inspired by timeless Italian style. A boater style shape is my preference for timeless as I believe you cannot go wrong with such a classic and minimalist style.

The veiling has come through ages as a classic style and I finished it with a touch of red cherries to highlight the Italian inspiration.

Materials

• Black Sinamay
• Faux stretch leather with polka dot print
• Soft ballet tulle
• Black petersham
• Black Braid
• Cherry broach (recycled)
• Brim wire

Techniques

• Blocking of crown and brim using sinamay
• Securing brim shape with wire
• Making a band for crown with faux leather material
• Layering brim with faux leather material
• Top stitch to secure material over brim
• Soft/subtle pleating technique used for overlay on crown, forming veil over face
• ‘Catching’ tulle to crown and brim with Thai stitch
