Deco
Description
The shape and elegance of this headpiece is Timeless.
It’s simplicity in appearance is deceiving. The elimination of needless fussy detail takes this piece back to the bare bones of style, hence its timeless.
It is a classical strong outlined crown shape that dates from the mid 16th Century but had been reinterpreted for modern millinery events. The crown halo is a shape of many historical periods. Often a shape that is highly decorated, in this piece the aim was minimalism.
The Black and White theme was chosen to echo the Art Deco era, yet the omission of colour also creates purity of line and shape. There is nowhere to hide in this headpiece. Line, shape, balance, contrast are the elements of clear design.
The plaited vintage 70s leather reflects the style of that time, wide belts and casual style and yet adds a simple detail to the crown, and a link between the two opposing sides.
One side is finished in Vintage Japanese Obi silk, the dark side, the endless night. The history of this piece of fabric is in the time of life and death. This fabric is about 80 years old.
The white lamb side, bright, alive, new, adding a texture of fabric to the headpiece and a link to the plaited leather trim.
The headpiece is designed to be worn with either the black or the white side to the front. Its up to the wearer. The change in looks is timeless.
