Description

I like classic, non fussy hats with clean lines. When I saw the windowpane sinamay brim tutorial, I decided that I would make it one day. Some suppliers call it trellis sinamay which conjures up pictures of gardens. This and the fact that our Devon garden looks so beautiful in spring gave the hat its name and consequently its design. The hedgerows and banks are full of primroses. I have been learning to make silk flowers with the help of the Millinery and Business Academy so decided that primroses were the obvious flower to decorate the hat, along with periwinkles, also very abundant. These would also give some height and colour contrast. The pale yellow sinamay and boater shape is also reminiscent of Edwardian garden parties.
