- Biot Feather Flower Project by Michelle@Petershams
Description
I have been trying to get my creative flare back and being lockdown for so long due to COVID19 has made it worse. Especially being miles from my sick family in Australia and not being able to return. I thought I need to start making hats and using all the items I had purchased and brought over to the UK. So to get inspiration I started to look through my HATalk online magazines and was drawn to the issue with the pink biot feather on the cover. But thought at the time it looked hard.
I started making the pink boater, I just couldn’t find the right trim for it. Then thought my friend had given me some biot feathers and so I gave it ago, and that is how ‘cotton candy’ was born.

- Sinamay brim was cut on bias in three layers then ironed together over a chopping board.
- Crown and brim cut out and stitched together.
- Brim was wired and stitched in place.
- Trims were made of bias cut and stretched Sinamay, to edge the wire, band the ribbon and create twirls.
