HATalk Archive Inspiration

Description

Inspired by the burgundy coloured lace riding hat in issue 133, looking at the intricate lace detail, I decided to make a freeform wire work riding hat. I didn't use a block, just worked the wire into shape by hand. This gives it a whimsical feel that I think works well with the riding hat shape. I trimmed the hat using a feather inspired by the vegan leather in the skills section, using recycled EVA foam and silk scraps and flowers cast in resin. The overall look is completed with veiling.
