Description
Inspired by the pleated headpiece in HATalk I started experimenting with pleating sinamay in different ways.
This hat is made by reusing parts of a former hat consisting of several kite-like forms in 2 colors of sinamay, that I had taken apart.
I made the 'wings' on this hat by folding the parts on the colour-line and then making the pleats.

- Sinamay in several colors
- Elastic band
Hat Making Techniques
- Wings: 2 colors of sinamay invisible machine-sewn together in a technique I developed myself
- Edges finished with sinamay by hand
- Pleating of wings
- Base of 2 colors sinamay, sewn together as above, edge finished with sinamay by hand
- Wing-parts arranged on base and fastened by hand
- Elastic band twisted and sewn on underside base
