Description
A surprise trip to Iceland for my husband’s 40th birthday left an everlasting impression on both of us. Neither of us expected the impact Iceland would have, it is truly the land of fire and Ice. We fell in love with its beauty and the country really has become our happy place.
I wanted my design to capture our special memories of this special country, incorporating the glistening ice by using layers of white and ice blue sinamay encrusted with crystals so it glitters in the light. The sculptural tectonic plates and the deep volcanic lava fields as demonstrated using layered black and red sinamay, with accents of orange, red and black crystals to capture the streams of molten rock. The swirling of green of Aurora Borealis on my husband’s birthday and the lushness of the green landscape.
