Description

The Autumn woods excite my heart and electrify my spirit! Their rich, earthy scents, color and textures keep me spellbound and ever ready for fantasy!

“Black Woods Rose ” was conceived from the woodland’s fecund garden floor … then sprouted
and bloomed magically large, perfect, and exquisitely black as pitch amidst the backdrop of terracotta, autumn vines.

Black Woods Rose is playful, warm, romantic, strong and in command. She can run wildly thru fallen autumn leaves or crown herself, wearing a black velvet gown.

Every time I look at her, she reminds me of walks in the Autumn woods and that tickles me and makes me smile.

Techniques:

Blocked a wide, velour felt base foundation (2 pieces) – hand stitched together
Lacquered, wired, covered edges with grosgrain ribbon
Hand sculpted and twisted velour felt in the shape of a large, opened rose – Sewn to base
Cut terracotta velour strips, lacquered and swirled them into circular curls – hand sewed them to base at
the back side of rose
Attached long grosgrain ribbon ties to each side of base to be tied behind ears to nape of neck for
style, drama and security.
Attached hair comb for security/stability
