Description
Happy place one: I am walking in the woodlands with my corgi, hunting for mushrooms, a place of magical appearances and disappearances, teeming with life and in constant transformation.
Happy place two: In my felting studio where I make my sculptural felt inspired by the natural world and biological phenomena. Felt making is a process in which magic and transformation come together.
Happy place three: a daydream, drifting off into fantasy to a place where strange beautiful things can happen and nothing is impossible…
These three happy places I combined in one hat. I let Burgundydrop bonnet mushrooms grow out of my red tophat.
Materials:
- Dyed fine merino wool roving
- Dyed silk roving
- Dyed organza silk
- Dyed habotai silk
- Grosgrain ribbon
- Fosshape
- Millinery wire
Techniques:
- Cloche and mushrooms are wet felted by hand
- All materials (except grosgrain) are handdyed
- The mushroom gills are made with steam set organza silk shibori
