HATalk Competition Entry 2023
Angelina DeLuco
Description
For my turban, I used metallic fabric, trim, thread and ribbons in layers to create the idea of earth as an element of function, that works with itself, to create beautiful things. Like metals, or roots that create trees or the soil that supports the silkworm that made the silk for my lining fabric. The first layer of black lurex fabric holds atop of it a gold trim outline with silver thread laced throughout. Lastly, a layer of copper tubing ribbon is woven and draped to create a knot on top which also signifies earth’s endless beginnings and endings.
