Description

This is a futurist depiction of how precious the natural world is and how it might be revered if it were like an endangered species. The model I used is of Native American decent which I found appropriate considering the role in which the natural world plays in their belief practices. Here is the hopefully fictional account:

“Following the path of destruction to the earth’s natural environment, plant life has become the most precious commodity. Greenery is worn as a symbol of wealth and prosperity. It is often paired with rich fabrics and gold braided accents.”

Materials:

Buckram base with headband addition
Velvet
Vintage Gold Braiding
Vintage Button
Plastic Dome (lightweight as opposed to glass)
Plastic Faux Plants
Tree Bark
Spanish Moss

Techniques:

Buckram and wire based frame with hand-sewing techniques.
Velvet fabric covering on bias.
Hand-sewn edges and headband attachment.
Dome attachment using gimp braid and fabric glue.
Wired base allows for shaping.

This project was aided by previous floral design experience. 🙂

Note: Entries have been not been edited or proofread to protect the integrity of the maker's original meaning.
