I’ve got inspiration from the beautiful and unique nature of the Yemeni island of Socotra, in sanscrit “Land of bliss.” As an UNESCO world heritage the island is saturated with endemic species of the flora, fauna, sea life and unique local culture with its own language . Dragon blood tree with its umbrella -like canopy and red sap is world famous for its medicinal properties and as a precious varnish even for the Stradivarius violins! The shape of my hat is inspired from dragon blood tree and the pink pretty flowers are from the other very unique one called the Bottle tree or Ademium Obesum . I am so stricken from Socotra’s beauty, that I am planning to visit it very soon.
