Vlasta Šuhajdová
Description
Earth is the basic environment for life. The body of the hat is mold on the original hatblock from the 1940s, which is oval at the base, but gradually rises to sharp edges like mountains rise from the round shapes of the earth. The shape of the hat symbolizes the place. The earth gives us food, its basic element is bread and grain, that’s why I chose corn ears of various shapes and grass leaves, which are food for fauna, as decoration. However, the crop is subject to the elements, so I fixed the leaves of grasses and ears of corn on the copper wire as if they were blowing in the wind, and I also placed the grains like beads on the wires. Wavy grasses, ears of corn and grains form the missing brim of the hat. The color is earthy brown, but also naturally ocher and festive copper and gold. All these are the gifts of the earth, thanks to which we can live. They need to be valued and cared for.
