Description

WATER FOR LIFE: Thanks to water, oceans are full of species as plants and animals. As a Scientist, I am especially sensible to it. And more than this, I choosed Dory, the blue tang fish – when she was a child – because she is suffering from memories troubles – as I am.

Without a balanced aquatic environment, our future is compromised. That’s the reason I chose shimmering colors as a HOPE.

Water is mostly depicted through the bording crin thread which is undulating like water does but also thanks to the movements of the air in the feathers, representing seagrass moving in the marine garden. These latest are seated beside different corals. Both crin and base have the color of the water.

Techniques:

  • A braid headpiece on a Alice band
  • Braid sewed: for the base
  • Wool felted: for a part of the setting
  • Metallic headband covered with braid
  • Crin braid sewed: for the brim

Materials:

Synthetic braid
Carded wool to be felted (by me)
Tubular gros grain
Feathers on a satin ribbon
Titanium tubular crin
Crin braid (16 cm)
Sequins on threads
‘Pipe-cleaner’ or chenille wire
Sewing threads
Metallic headband
