Description

I was thinking in terms of the ocean and the waves the water make. In particular waves for riding a surfboard.

Techniques:

  • Steam iron/ fuse the layers of sinamay together.
  • Cut out the desired shape from the fused sinamay
  • Wire the edges of design with millinery wire
  • Fold a Sinamay bias strip and cover the edges of the shape with it. I used my sewing machine
  • Attach petersham sleeve about 7cm long for the aliceband to slide in
  • Bend the shape to firm curves like waves.
  • Curve and bend( curl) thd artificial decor to look like waves. ( It almost looks like giant) pipe cleaner).
  • Hand sew decor on
  • Insert alice band in the sleeve

Materials:

Two different colours blue sinamay, since water can look different especially when it moves.
Millinery wire
Pershamtape to make the sleeve to insert an alice band
5mm wide metal alice band covered with black satin ribbon
Bottle brush artificial Featherlike decor in ombre blue colours I found at the artificial flower department
