Description
Hat adapted from “Caesarea Kibyra Fountain-Lovers’ Fountain”
The 2,000-year-old monumental fountain with a round plan, which was revived as a result of restoration in the ancient city of Kibyra in the Gölhisar district of Burdur city in western Turkey, was supplied with water from the ancient source. The restoration of the monumental fountain with a pool was completed with the contributions of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the Burdur Governorship.
This winter hat was made by taking inspiration from this fountain. The production material is velvet yarn and wool yarns.
A waste plastic plate was used as a loom.
The forest area surrounding the ancient fountain and the water flowing from the fountain gave this hat its color and texture. An attempt was made to stylize the waterway coming from the mountain. It is known as the fountain of lovers.
The hat can be used to cover the ears, as a single piece, side-folded or with the entire brim folded.
A short video was added with photos of the production technique, web photos of the ancient fountain and live model photos.
(The fact that water is flowing again from an ancient fountain was the best news I have ever read…)
Note: This hat is sustainable and can be made by any adult who has a plastic waste plate, any yarn and some skill.
Techniques:
- Hand woven knit
Materials:
Finished production materials:
-Green velvet yarn (depicts forests)
-Light and dark blue wool yarn (depicts flowing stream-water and sky)
-A loom was prepared from waste plastic picnic plate as a tool.
-A knife to cut the edges of the picnic plate to prepare the loom and a large needle for weaving.
A waste plastic plate was used as a loom.
In its construction, a simple weaving warp was made with nylon silver colored yarn and a cross net was made.
The top of the hat was adapted like the top of the circular ancient fountain.
