Petersham, a traditional and versatile millinery ribbon sometimes referred to as grosgrain, is a classic choice for hat trimming. Over the centuries, it has been folded and pleated in countless to make all kinds of ornaments and decorations.

A cockade is a rosette or knot of ribbons worn on a hat, traditionally as a badge of military office, political party or livery membership. Cockades were especially popular during the 18th and 19th centuries.

In this tutorial, Michelle Osborne of Petershams Millinery Supplies teaches you how to make an interesting Petersham cockade and then shows you how it can be used to trim a mini-top hat.
