Kaleidoscope of Butterflies headpiece
Category: Traditional
Description
The headpiece is made completely from scratch (excluding the headband). All the butterflies as well as two water lily leaves have been hand cut, then wired and backed with silver lame fabric. After that the butterflies and the leaves have been shaped with millinery (flower shaping) tools by hand to be turned from 2 dimensional into 3 dimensional embellishments.
All the wires have been covered with thin rayon fabric hand-dyed to match the headpiece.
For a finished look the headband has been covered with genuine leather.
The kaleidoscope of butterflies is attached to the headband with the twinned water lily leaves joined with one stem, which makes for a simple but very practical finish. The wearer can change the level (higher or lower) or the side (right or left) of the composition depending on their preferences.
