Jane Stoddart has been running the Jane Stoddart Millinery practice in Sydney, Australia since 1985. Most of her work is designing and making model hats for Australia’s vibrant and busy racing fashion scene. “Sometimes I feel run off my feet,” says Jane, “but it’s such a thrill when one of my clients wins (as they often do)!”

She got into fashion first while living in 1980s’ London, working with students from Central Saint Martins. Back in Sydney, she found an elderly milliner who she worked with for some years, absorbing many beautiful old school techniques. She has done a bit of everything over the course of her career; wholesale, retail, bespoke, working for clothing designers and catwalk events, but she loves fashion and custom design best. She is pleased to have an established reputation and many lovely clients.

Jane has been in demand as a millinery teacher over the last 20 years, teaching at technical and design colleges, as well as many major millinery conventions in Australia. She also teaches internationally, with classes in New York City and Ireland.
