Tutors / Jenny Pfanenstiel
Master milliner and owner of Formé Millinery, Jenny Pfanenstiel is internationally recognized for her award-winning craft. She has created hats for some of the world’s most fashionable people, including Former First Lady Michelle Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Madonna, Neil Diamond, Barbara Corcoran (from the US television show Shark Tank), Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe and actress Regina Taylor.
After visiting Louisville, Kentucky a number of times to create custom hats for the Kentucky Derby, Jenny decided to relocate her family and business to open a hat shop in a converted industrial building there. Since making the move, Jenny has had the honour of being named the Official Milliner of the Kentucky Derby Museum and has a permanent hat display at Churchill Downs.
Jenny has collaborated with an array of companies to create hats for various collections and productions, including co-branded Derby collections with Vineyard Vines, Covet Fashion Style App, American Express, Goodman Theatre and the Joffrey Ballet. She is also a hat designer for McCall Patterns and creates flat pattern hats through the Formé Millinery label.
In November 2015, Dover Publications published Jenny’s first book, The Making of a Milliner. She is currently working on a second. When Jenny is not making hats in her Louisville shop, you will probably find her teaching others the art of millinery.
