Love Birds
Description
In love, the male and female forces and influences keep the balance.
I wanted to represent this equilibrium in my hat “Love Birds” by using various components: Opposing materials such as heavy denim and lightweight lace, keep the balance when they hit the right proportions together. The light and dark contrasts and colours of the materials; “feminine soft pink” meets “dominant black”. Traditional millinery methods such as hand blocking and shaping the ostrich quills, as well as modern ideas, such as the origami technique of folded pigeons, complement each other in a lightness and create a kind of equilibrium.
