- Wonderflex Spirals Project by Carrie Jenkinson
Description
I love using different materials and so the Wonderflex spiral project inspired me to start there.
What fascinates me with this process, is that you make a start with an idea/inspiration and what you end up with is something quite different. A lovely part of my own artistic journey.
Instead of Wonderflex, I chose cane which originates from the Rattan Palm and primarily grows throughout tropical regions of South East Asia. It's also very pliable and mouldable.
My design has imitated spirals of a different form, an artistic view of two DNA strands (polynucleotides as they are formally known), joined by nucleotides and covalent bonds. Like the Wonderflex spirals, I love a good metallic gold colour and a headpiece where the attachment is not obvious.
I used a very minimalistic headband to attach to the head and opted for bobby pins along the very thin wire to secure, along with the elastic. It is designed to hide under the hair and the headpiece sitting effortless on the right side of the head.
