Description
For a couple of months, I was at an exhibition. Shola was one of the artists and her colourful collage, where she mixed textile with painting inspired me a lot when I made this hat. When I looked at her paintings a tickling feeling started in my fingers and I just wanted to get home and create something. Just that, create, is one of the things that makes me really happy. To disappear into my own world and just go with the flow.
Some years ago I bought a lot of colourful jaspis stones and when I saw the theme I just know that I wanted to do a hat with focus on the stones. A colourful hat with mixed texture, just like Sholas paintings!
I chose the shape of my hat, the variety of forms together because I wanted it to be playful, colourful, like a fairy tale, where the stones be the focus.
Materials:
- Karkas
- Silk strips
- Jaspis Stones
- An old shawl
- Knotted ribbon
Techniques:
- The frame is made by karkas that I shaped with help from different hat blocks and bracket together with flower tape.
- The silk stripes is spun around.
- The ribbon edge I sewed with dot stitches.
- The knotted ribbon and the shawl I fastened with stealth stitches.
- The stones I sewed with button stitches.
