Wave in plastic - it's not fantastic
Description
Two things that inspired this head piece are “The great wave of Kanagawa” and the fact that now-days our waters are “drowned” in plastic. That is why I chose to use mainly plastic in my piece. Even though I depicted a beautiful marine landscape, I would like the people who see it to realise that it is all a contradiction: there should be no plastic in that heavenly place. We should do NOW our best to stop this from happening.
Techniques:
- I created a double headband with the metallic headband and wire.
- I made a double layered crinoline base and covered its edges with folded crinoline (technique which I think and I hope that I have discovered).
- The waves are stitched with nylon thread. The marine vegetation is made up of plastic folders and beads.
Materials:
Crinoline
Millinery wire
Metallic headband
Thread
Nylon thread
Glue
Ribbon
Recycled folders
Glass beads and
Sequins
