Irina Shayk: Off-Duty Edge

When you think of gala fashion, what do you picture? Something elegant and showstopping like an extravagant gown? Well, for supermodel Irina Shayk, gala fashion means anything but.

Earlier this month, Irina attended the 2019 National Board of Review awards gala in New York City to support long-time boyfriend and actor, Bradley Cooper. Shayk, who is usually walking the runway or posing for magazine covers, stepped out in a red herringbone suit dress. This was an unexpected but fierce choice – perfect for a model off-duty. The short dress showed off her toned legs, the perfect lead in to her platform biker boots. And, the gold and black zippers in buttons gave the look a little more punk, separating it from typical suit dresses.

But the look wasn’t complete without a matching beret. A beret was not the obvious option for this occasion but was the perfect hat choice for the look. The relaxed shape of the hat contrasted with the rigidness of the suit dress to create one bold and effortless look. Very French, very chic! Light makeup and a bouncing bob also allowed the outfit to be the star of the show.

And, while her hat made the look, perhaps her second best accessory was Bradley Cooper, who donned a three piece grey suit in a matching herringbone pattern.

The Versace ensemble may not scream gala, but it does prove that French-girl edge can work for any occasion. Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper may have won awards for their work in A Star Is Born, but Shayk showed that berets and coordinated ensembles can steal the show, too.
