EVA Foam Orchid
Step-by-step instructions for making a stunning and realistic Cattleya orchid using the thermoplastic EVA Foam.
Projects / EVA Foam Orchid
Project Overview
EVA Foam is an amazing new material for flower making. Also known as foamiran, this millinery thermoplastic is feather-light, waterproof and easy to colour.
In this tutorial, flower making expert Galina Kofod (from Galelina Flowers in Australia) will show you how to make a stunning Cattleya orchid using EVA Foam.
A big advantage of working with EVA Foam is that you don’t need any special tools or materials. This means that you can quickly, and quite easily, make an accessory or headpiece to match any outfit.
EVA Foam isn’t expensive and it is available from most craft shops. Galina advises, however, that you buy it online from a millinery supplier to make sure the quailty is right for making flowers.
When you buy EVA Foam, pay attention to its thickness. The thinner the better for flower making – a thickness of 1mm or less is best.
