Hat Making Project
Feather Peony
Make a peony flower out of curled nagoire goose feathers.
Projects / Feather Peony
Project Overview
These gorgeous goose nagoire feather flowers are quick to make and don’t require any specialist equipment. You just need hair straighteners to curl the feathers and a hot glue gun to assemble them.
In this feather peony tutorial, you will use three toning colours of feathers to create a lovely gradated flower. Once you’ve mastered the technique, it’s fun to try different size and colour combinations and to play around with the direction of the feathers.
A single feather peony or two look very elegant on a simple cocktail hat, while a whole bunch of blooms on a wide brimmed straw hat can wow the crowd at a summer race meeting.
This Feather Peony project is by Amy Fowler of Humboldt Haberdashery.
