Jane Fryers

Jane Fryers is an award-winning couture milliner with a love of the unusual. She is known for her work with fish leather, a specialist millinery material that she has been creating with for over 10 years. She is passionate about sustainability in fashion and created a series of upcycled hat making tutorials for HATalk in 2012.

Jane studied millinery at The London College of Fashion and then with Rose Cory MBE, the late Queen Mother’s milliner. She has been awarded first prize in the Italian Cappelli nel Mondo and second prize in the Feltmakers Design Competition. She has also been a finalist in the HAT Magazine’s Designer of the Year.

In 2005 Jane won a scholarship from the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST). This enabled her to take a series of intensive courses on traditional millinery skills and has afforded many fabulous opportunities including introducing fish leather to Her Majesty The Queen. Currently, Jane creates in her seaside studio and is a millinery tutor at Central Saint Martins in London.
