Hat Making Project
Bandeau Bow
Make a straw braid bandeau hair accessory with a fabric bow accent.
Projects / Bandeau Bow
Project Overview
Hair accessories are a prominent feature in contemporary fashion, with styles ranging from bold statement pieces to subtle, elegant accents. Their rise in popularity reflects a growing interest in personal expression and versatility, as these accessories allow individuals to elevate their looks with minimal effort.
Adding hair accessories to your millinery collection can extend your design portfolio and allow you to showcase your craftsmanship to a broader audience. It also gives you an opportunity to experiment with current trends while staying true to your design aesthetic.
A bandeau is a narrow band worn around the head to hold the hair in position. In this tutorial, Martine Henry from Martine Henry Millinery demonstrates how to make a straw braid bandeau with a fabric bow accent. For the straw braid, choose something that has a smooth side so that it will not snag on the hair. If you cannot find a smooth variety, you can line your straw by gluing ribbon to the side that will be in contact with the hair.
