Easy Sinamay Rose

Learn how to make a quick and easy sinamay rose to decorate your hat or fascinator.

Projects / Easy Sinamay Rose

Project Overview

Each petal of this easy sinamay rose was made from a separate 7″ x 7″ (18cm x 18cm) square of this versatile, lightweight millinery material. Although the flowers shown here have 7 petals, you can add as many as you like. You can also adapt the design based on the size of scraps that you have available.

Aside from the sinamay, all you need to create this quick flower making project is some steam, a needle and some thread.

A bunch of these roses would make a lovely trim for a summer straw hat, especially if they were in an assortment of toning colours. Or a single rose could be sewn onto a clip or headband to create a simple, elegant fascinator.

This quick sinamay flower tutorial by American milliner Amy Fowler of Humboldt Haberdashery.
